Oakland Roots Announce Return to Play with the “Justice Match”

On August 29th, Oakland Roots will host and broadcast a special “Justice Match” presented by Fremont Bank. The Justice Match will feature Roots players mixed into two teams with retired local women's professional players and local women’s soccer ambassadors both playing and coaching. The ambassador list includes United States World Cup veteran Aly Wagner, Thailand World Cup veteran Miranda Nild, former Afghanistan captain Hailai Arghandiwal and Oakland street baller and Cal soccer Hall of Famer Dania Cabello.

The purpose of the match is to advance the discussion of gender and racial equity, and justice. The match will include a pre-match show that will feature a performance from Oakland’s own Grammy award-winning artist Fantastic Negrito.

The Justice Match will be broadcast on www.oaklandrootssc.com/roots-live-2020 with an official kickoff at 5:10 PM following an elongated pre-game show.

Save the date and time in your calendars and show your support for the match by securing a #FacesOfOakland fan cut-out no later than Friday, August 14th to ensure that everyone viewing will see you in the stands on August 29th. A portion of all proceeds will be donated back to Castro Valley SC and after the completion of the 2020 Fall Season, the cut-outs will be featured in a community inspired art project created by local artists of color.

As an Oakland Roots Youth Club Partner, you can use the code CVSC10 for a $10 savings on each purchase.
