Under 7/Under 8 Recreational Academy Program 2019
Players born in 2013 (U7), and 2012 (U8)
WHAT IS THE U7/U8 RECREATIONAL ACADEMY AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT?
This program is designed to build upon the technical skills learned in the Grasshopper program, and introduce a few basic concepts to help the players learn and understand the game, while maximizing touches on the ball. The main priority is ALWAYS to make the session a FUN learning environment.
WHAT DOES THE TRAINING CONSIST OF?
The program runs for 12 weeks. Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays starting in August. Teams will train with a volunteer coach twice a week, and have 2 x 25 minute games on the weekends. Most games will take place on Saturdays but games may also be scheduled on Sundays. All training sessions and games will be overseen by a 24-7 UK Soccer Academy professional coach.
The players will learn new skills and finish every session with a small-sided scrimmage. Your coach will contact you mid-July with practice dates, times and location.
Included in fees are five Summer Skills Clinics on Saturdays 6/15, 6/22, 6/29, 7/20, 7/27 for registered players only. Clinics are led by professional coaches from 24-7 UK Soccer Academy and held at Stonebrae Elementary School in Hayward. Session time for U7-U8 is at 8:30 to 9:30am. Check website to verify dates and times. Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in, wearing shin guards and bring water.
HOW ARE U7/U8 TEAMS FORMED?
Teams consisting of approximately 7 players will be formed. Players can register for the program until May 31st. After this date, they will be placed on a wait list with players being placed where needed on a next player registered basis.
WHAT IF IT RAINS, WILL TRAINING & GAMES BE CANCELLED?
In the event of bad weather, games and/or training sessions may get cancelled. To help with this, you will be able to contact your coach, check the CVSC website, or sign up for SMS messaging. This will tell you of field closures for the day. Training sessions are cancelled will not be rescheduled. We will do our best to reschedule games that are rained out, but in some cases, make-ups will not be possible.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO PLAYERS NEED?
Players new to the program will need to purchase a uniform from Soccer Pro in Dublin during the summer. They can use this for both training and games. Soccer cleats, ball, and shin guards will also be required. U7/U8 will play with a size 3 ball.
