The Castro Valley United U13 girls Yellow team traveled to Pleasanton to participate in the Pleasanton Rage Soccer City tournament, and returned home with the first place trophy and medals. CV United won the tournament in convincing fashion, scoring 12 goals over their four games and not allowing a single opposition goal. CV United fielded a balanced attack with eight different players scoring the twelve goals. On the way to the championship they defeated Pleasanton Rage White, Walnut Creek Tsunami, and the Rohnert Park Inferno. In the championship game, CV United faced the Tuolumne County Sierra United team. After playing a scoreless first half, CV United’s Maia Mendes scored two second half goals, the first off an assist from Sierra Dahzan and the other assisted by Katie Francisco. The CV United defense of Jessica Parham, Angela Tafur, Kaylee de Guzman, Alexis Mitchell and Tina Dehdari, and goalkeeper Josie Gonsalves held firm for the victory, as they had all weekend.
