Three tournaments. Three medals for the Castro Valley Victory U-16-3 girls team. The Victory grabbed third place in the Bob Fowler Classic in Concord on Sept. 27-28, losing their opener in a hard-fought battle with host FC Diablo Rush, then out-played Mustang Earthquake despite finishing in a 0-0 draw. Needing a big win, the Victory struck for a 5-0 triumph over Vallejo, getting three goals from Tracy Weisenberger (who pushed her team-leading total to 10 on the year by scoring 5 in the tournament) and two more from Sarah Cabral (who was celebrating her birthday).
In the consolation final against Rincon Valley, the Victory overcame a size disadvantage and a depleted bench when Weisenberger trapped a lofted free kick at the top of the box, spun and struck the upper left corner for a 1-0 Victory victory.
The team, currently 10-3-3 and unbeaten in Al Caffodio league play, grabbed consolation championships at both the 49er Gold Rush Classic in Auburn and at the Castro Valley First Look.
