Congratulations to the following Castro Valley SC Division 1 teams that advanced out of pool play to the next round of the CYSA State Cup:
U11 Boys United
U11 Girls United
U12 Girls Fury
U13 Girls Green Machine
This is the first time CVSC has had four of our younger teams advance out of the opening round.
We would also like to take this chance to wish the teams good luck in their Sweet Sixteen matches to be held in early February at Morgan Hill. Check the State Cup section at http://cysanorth.org/
for additional information.
As the Comp Director I could not be more proud of the success of the players, teams and coaches. 4 out of the 6 teams that participated is a great accomplishment.
Andy and Mark, thank you and the 24/7 staff for getting our teams to this unprecedented point in the Competitive history of our club. The hard and sometimes unappreciated work is starting to pay off. Well done.

UPDATE !!! FEB 7TH, 2009 - ALL FOUR TEAMS ARE IN THE QUARTER-FINALS
UPDATE !!! FEB 11TH ... U11 GIRLS UNITED IN FINAL FOUR !!!
The U11G Castro Valley United advanced to the State Cup semi-finals with a thrilling penalty kick shootout win against the Vacaville Thunderbirds last Saturday morning. The quarterfinal match ended 1-1 in regulation and went two scoreless 10-minute golden goal overtimes before it was settled with penalty kicks. The shootout was tied 2-2 after the first five rounds. Castro Valley won in the sixth round with the United keeper stopping Vacaville’s shot and Castro Valley converting their final kick. Castro Valley now faces Santa Rosa on Saturday in Morgan Hill at 9:00am in the semi-finals with the winner advancing to Sunday’s State Cup Championship Match.
Congratulations also go out to the U12G Fury and U13G Green Machine. Both teams won their round of 16 matches on Saturday, Fury 2-1 over San Carlos and Green Machine 2-0 over San Juan Spirit White to advance to Sunday’s quarterfinals. Unfortunately, both the Fury and Green Machine’s State Cup run ended Sunday as the U12G lost to 2-0 to Mustang Mavericks and the U13G lost 2-1 to Mustang Fury. Both Mustang teams are the defending State Cup champions with the Fury also being the defending Region IV champion. Both the Castro Valley Fury and Green Machine will be seeded teams in next year’s CYSA State Cup because of their quarterfinal finishes.
